Director of Middle School Ministry
Mandarin Presbyterian Church is a dynamic, multigenerational church in Jacksonville, Florida, with the mission of Loving People to Love Jesus Christ. Our Director of Middle School Ministry leads as a key member on our Next Gen and church staff teams. The Director of Middle School Ministry is responsible for overseeing the operation and structure of ministry for 6th – 8th grades. Primary Responsibilities: Relationships
Actively builds relationships with middle school students and their parents
Actively builds relationships with small group leaders, caring for their personal and spiritual growth
Participates in recruiting and training all paid and volunteer youth leaders
Attends and participates in staff meetings and Next Gen meetings, working cooperatively with other staff members
Communicates with the Next Gen Administrative Assistant about MS activities
Program and Administration
Ensures the program is aligned with the mission and vision of Mandarin Presbyterian Church
Leads weekly programs and events including Wednesday night (Hang 10) and Sunday morning (Dive In)
Partners with local ministries to create SERVE opportunities for students in the community
Coordinates all youth activities with the church calendar, so as to enhance, not conflict with, the total ministry of the church
Ensures accurate attendance and follow up with visitors and students who are absent
Ensures smooth and strategic transition for 5th and 8th graders into new ministry areas
Prepares and executes the annual middle school budget in coordination with the Next Gen Pastor
Oversees the care of Youth Ministry equipment and facilities
Leads summer camps, mission activities, Hang Ten weekend, and other church retreats as needed
Personal Characteristics and Skills:
A strong and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and knowledge of scripture
Passion for and knowledge of Middle School students and families in this phase
Passion and ability to help students grow in faith, knowledge and deepening discipleship
Excellence in building trusted relationships with Middle School students and their parents
Excitement for family ministry strategy and working with a Next Generation team that includes overlap between Children’s and Student Ministry
Engaging communicator/speaker
Ability to bring energy and creativity to programs and events
Understanding and agreement with the core values and essential tenets of ECO
Commitment to worshipping at MPC and participating in the life of the church
Ability to balance time, understanding the importance of self and family care
A Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of experience in student ministry
