Discussion Starter

“I’ve been blessed by having a fantastic, supportive family that always encouraged me to get out there and figure it out for myself. Which is what I’ve done. And I think that’s what a lot of people do when you’ve got a challenge. Lots of people have challenges of different types. Mine is, I suppose, my hands but I don’t see them as a challenge. That’s just what they are.”

It’s easy to look at someone with challenges and only see the challenge. Sometimes it’s takes God’s eyes and grace to look past those things on the surface and remember that each of us are made in God’s image. Each of us have our imperfections and challenges which make us unique.

Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

Annette Gabbedey, a jeweler with no fingers is made in God’s image. And so are you.

3 Questions

1. Would you rather be a jeweler or a gardener? (Or another tedious job)
2. Have you ever had to overcome a challenge?
3. What type of person is it hardest for you to see as made in God’s image?

Chew on this

If humans are all imperfect but made in God’s image, what does that say about the heart of God?
