Associate Professor of Youth Ministry, Azusa Pacific University
Topic: The Bait and Switch of Evangelism
Session: Evangelism and Apologetics
Cheryl currently serves as Professor and Director of the Youth Ministry Program at Azusa Pacific University, teaching courses to prepare students to think theologically about youth ministry praxis. She is also the Senior Editor of The Journal of Youth Ministry, an academic journal directed towards those teaching youth ministry majors in the US and internationally. She has served in a wide variety of ministry settings over the past thirty years, participating in the journeys of multiple generations of adolescents.
Her current research interests include developmental faith trajectories (co-author, Sticky Faith), spiritual development, and emerging adulthood. Cheryl’s primary concern is how best to equip parents and the church to encourage faith in children, adolescents, and young adults. She feels blessed to teach and mentor college students and call that a job! She loves
to watch the New England Patriots and USC Trojan football teams, boogey boarding, tennis, and hanging out with her 19 year-old nephew and 89 year-old father who reside with her in California.
