Scripture is a powerful tool that we can use to encourage, challenge and teach ourselves and others more about God. Because of that, it’s very common to memorize verses to remind ourselves of certain teachings or to reinforce an argument we are trying to make about life and faith. As helpful as that practice can be, we at times can find ourselves using a Bible verse in ways that it was never intended to be used.
In Viva! Quotable we will explore four verses from the Bible that are commonly quoted or referred to and ask if the common uses are accurate. Your group will discuss how they typically hear each verse used, learn some important things to remember when reading the Bible, and talk about how to quote Scripture in a way that honors the original intent as best as possible.
Here is what we’ll be discussing:
Week 1: James 1:22
Week 2: Proverbs 13:24
Week 3: Jeremiah 29:11
Week 4: Philippians 4:13
Includes 4 lessons, instructions, and two slide templates for PowerPoint, Keynote, MediaShout, ProPresenter or another display system.
