Being a follower of Jesus isn’t always easy in our western culture. More and more, Christians seem to be in the minority and there is, at times, a certain sense of shame or embarrassment about admitting your faith. In previous generations, it felt like the teachings of Jesus were at the center of culture, where now it feels like it’s being pushed to the fringe. The Bible refers to this felt experience as exile; living with a foot in two different worlds: one in your school and community and the other in the Kingdom of God following Jesus. How do we authentically follow Jesus in the culture we find ourselves in?
Viva! Impacting Your School explores this question by looking at the period of exile where Judah (aka the southern Kingdom of Israel) found themselves living in Babylon and wrestling with the exact same question. We will discuss how to follow Jesus in a culture that has different priorities and what it means to impact our schools and communities with the message of Jesus.
Here is what we’ll be discussing:
Week 1: Jeremiah 29:1-19
Week 2: Daniel 1:1-21
Week 3: Daniel 3:1-30
Week 4: Daniel 6:1-28
Includes 4 lessons, instructions, and two slide templates for PowerPoint, Keynote, MediaShout, ProPresenter or another display system.
