Youth Ministries Lead Intern

September 17, 2018

Dear Potential Applicant,

I want to invite you to apply for our “Lead Intern” position at Columbia Presbyterian Church, and let you know about this job opportunity. This position is an excellent starter position for those interested in youth ministry as a possible career, or for those who are looking for a half time position in the Portland Metro area. Though the position is called “Lead Intern” it will function more like a small youth director role.  Here is why you should apply.

Columbia Presbyterian Church is a healthy and growing congregation that has one of the most innovative youth ministry models in the United States. We are re-shaping the way that youth ministry is done all over America and the world. That is not boasting or an overstatement. What we do, we do quietly and humbly and work hard at it, but we are proud of the work we have done. We have built a ministry that is engaging a unique model of social enterprise and intergenerational mentoring.  Our Associate Pastor for Youth and Family ministry has been doing youth work for over 18 years, and regularly writes online for publications at Fuller Theological Seminary, Duke Divinity School, Youth Specialties, and Princeton Theological Seminary.

All of this is to say that this ministry would be an excellent opportunity to learn and grow in faith and ministry skills. Columbia has a long history of treating its staff well, and also a history of developing folks who have gone out to other churches and ministries to serve. We believe in pouring into those that serve here just as much as we hope to have folks that serve our congregation well.

Please consider serving on the cutting edge of youth ministry.
