Youth Ministries Director/Pastor

This position focuses on providing leadership in the development of the congregation’s youth program which includes all youth in grades sixth through twelve (or approximate ages 11-18).


  • Actively desires to be involved in the ministry of discipling believers in the Youth Program; possess the ability to provide outreach to a large number of unchurched youth within the community.
  • Encourage youth to develop leadership abilities.
  • Encourage youth to participate in the daily workings of the church.
  • Acknowledge youth as part of the total church family and therefore, take opportunities to create the youth program within the present structures of the parish and be an advocate for the present structures to be youth hospitable.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, utilize and encourage volunteer adult leadership for youth ministry. 
  • Develop a core youth leadership group of youth and adults. 
  • Manage youth budgets in conjunction with Finance Committee.
  • Attend worship services, major church-wide events and the following meetings: Administrative Council, and others as needed.


  • Be a person of understanding youth culture and maintain awareness of current trends, fads and issues nationally and locally.
  • Develop Biblical based Ministries that considers and relates to Youth Culture. 
  • Maintain current youth biographical information. 
  • Generate attendance reports, birthday lists, and other information helpful to assist in relationship building. 
  • Develop and implement a spiritual growth plan for all youth.
  • Develop, maintain, and utilize a working relationship with the local school districts.
  • Be visible within the communities especially in youth-specific areas
    •  Attending sports and school events
    •  Recognizing achievements
    •  Participating in events outside of CFUM (Christian and secular)


  • Review Youth Ministry Team concept
  • Plan, arrange, and coordinate the youth ministry programs and events in keeping with the six core purpose areas of the church: Worship, Evangelism, Prayer, Discipleship, Fellowship, and Missions.
  • Develop a regular and consistent monthly schedule of events that includes weekly gatherings and special events.
  • Implement an intentional plan for the transition of fifth grade students into the youth ministry.
  • Implement an intentional plan for the transition of college and career age students out of the youth ministry.


  • Teach, plan, and coordinate yearly confirmation program under guidance of Sr. Pastor.
  • Develop Confirmation curriculum.
  • Involve parents and other approved adults in confirmation program that includes but is not limited to snacks, meals, informational meetings etc.
  • Arrange and support service opportunities.
  • Implement a confirmation mentorship program.
  • Organize/assist/plan a confirmation weekend/workshop/banquet


  • Report on the youth ministry as requested to SPRC, Administrative Council, and or Staff.
  • Be in regular communication with the Administrative Assistant involving youth related information.
  • Utilize communications for all Youth related activities, etc. via announcements, bulletins, youth boards and all social media outlets available.
  • Manage a technology-based communications network with youth such as cell phones and internet (i.e. Instant messages, email, Facebook, etc.)
  • Communicate often and regularly with parents /guardian’s church and youth opportunities

Larger Church Affiliation/Support

  • Maintain a unity and support for youth ministries of area local churches in the Corry area.

Sunday School Program

  • Provide support for Sunday School superintendent/program/curriculum.
  • Assist at Vacation Bible School

Education & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in religious studies preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in leading Youth in a Christian setting
  • A person of Conservative Orthodoxy with the ability and willingness to affirm and teach Wesleyan theology, especially as it concerns God’s grace, with the understanding and living out faith in Jesus Christ, and the primacy of scripture as interpreted through the Holy Spirit and guided by reason, tradition (church teaching), and experience.

Working Condition
The Director of Youth Ministries is a full-time position requires flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.  The actual numbers of hours required during any given week will be for those needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. The schedule may vary at various times of the year. Expectation is that the director will work on Sundays as well as other specific times as agreed upon with the Pastor and SPRC.  Hours required will be a minimum of 40-45 hours with PTO for 14 vacation days, specified holidays, and 5 sick days.


$20,000 – $40,000

  • Salary commensurate with experience
  • Probationary period will be 90 days
