Job Description


The purpose of the Youth Minister is to provide overall vision, direction and leadership for the spiritual formation of children ages 6th-12th grade. This will be done by formulating and working with a youth staff, the Elders and the Little Rock Church staff to develop a healthy, thriving youth ministry with a focus on the spiritual formation of children.


The vision of Little Rock Church’s Youth Minister is to lead the next generation to become fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ.



Oversee vision and mission

  • Develop and communicate vision and mission of LRC’s Youth Ministry
  • Meet with staff and Elder(s) regularly to review and evaluate vision and goals
  • Maintain yearly calendar for student ministry events, in conjunction with the overall Little Rock Church calendar
  • Oversee and stay within youth ministry budget
  • Maintain youth ministry web page(s)
  • Maintain student ministry bulletin page
  • Oversee curriculum for 6th-12th grade students including bible classes and student ministry Wednesday night program
  • Meet regularly with other LRC youth staff members, LRC staff & Elder(s) for prayer and discussion


Student Ministry

  • Maintain student ministry facilities and resources
  • Work with support staff to set up teen room for regular events
  • Work with support staff to clean rooms as needed
  • Maintain a current/updated space for teens/families
  • Maintain athletic equipment and other resources for student ministry


  • Oversee and direct youth ministry staff
  • Interview, hire, and oversee full-time summer student ministry intern
  • Recruit, train and direct Sunday morning class teachers
  • Recruit, train and direct Refuge staff that includes worship leader, small group leaders, and support staff
  • Meet with staff regularly to determine and evaluate goals and vision in student ministry


  • Direct weekly Wednesday night youth program, Refuge
  • Provide overall direction, goals and plans for Refuge
  • Provide curriculum and resources to small group leaders
  • Follow up with visiting students and families regularly
  • Maintain and communicate a Refuge calendar


  • Oversee and teach Sunday morning Bible classes
  • Develop and maintain curriculum for Bible classes
  • Maintain classrooms providing necessary equipment and resources for teachers
  • Communicate with students, parents and teachers about quarter changes.


  • Oversee all youth ministry events
  • Plan and lead summer experiences for students in grades 6-12 as they fit the overall vision and mission of LRC Student Ministry
  • Plan and lead weekend events such as retreats and service projects as they fit the overall vision and mission of LRC Student Ministry
  • Direct other activities focused on the spiritual formation of teens as appropriate
  • Work with other area Youth Ministers and groups for potential events/projects


  • Develop and lead others in disciple-making relationships with students in grades 6-12
  • Spend time with students outside of regular programmed activities as appropriate
  • Attend activities of students as often as appropriate in order to develop relationships with teens and parents
  • Work with students in crisis
  • Maintain consistent contact with students, especially “fringe” kids.
  • Recruit and lead prayer partners for each student in grades 6-12


  • Assist parents in the spiritual growth of their children
  • Communicate clearly with parents about curriculum and events
  • Involve parents as chaperones, teachers, sponsors, hosts as appropriate
  • Meet with parents and students regularly
  • Provide parents with resources such as books, seminars, helpful articles, etc.
  • Provide family-based experiences for parents and teens
