Part-Time Youth Coordinator [Option #1]

Primary Purpose:

The Youth Coordinator is to assist the Youth Director in providing pastoral leadership and discipleship opportunities for 5th & 6th grade (Outbreak) and 7th-12th grade students (Quake). Our goal is that they may be drawn to Christ and discipled into life-long followers of Jesus Christ by fulfilling the great command and commission of Jesus Christ through the vision of Marysville First United Methodist Church, “To Love God and All People for the Transformation of the World.”

The position is paid salary staff at part time – 20 to 25 hours per week except for emergencies, planned retreats and mission trips, and special occasions.

Spiritual Gifts of the candidate should include shepherding, teaching, and administration.

Talents and Abilities Desired:

Education and previous experience in youth ministry is preferred. A strong and growing relationship with God. A good role model for our youth. The candidate needs to have great relational skills with students and their families. A desire to see students grow, take ownership of their faith, and serve inside and outside of the church.

Duties & Responsibilities:Duties & Responsibilities :

  1. The Youth Coordinator will be providing spiritual, relational, and administrative leadership by ordering, training, nurturing, and evaluating the youth ministries for effective discipleship and growth.
    1. Make relational connections with students in 5th to 12th
    2. Weekly attend and assist in leading Quake events on Sunday nights.
    3. Assist in leading and teaching events for Outbreak on Wednesday nights for two or three weeks each month.
    4. Assist with retreats (Fall Retreat and Confirmation Retreat), lead one mission trip a summer (one week long) and assist as one other trips as need, and help with special events and activities.
    5. Assist in leading summer programming for Quake (exiting 7-12 graders) weekly and Outbreak (exiting 4-8 graders) two or three times a month.
    6. Assist with administration and office duties for the youth ministry including organizing, making phone calls, new student retention, recruit and train youth leaders, and other needs as given by the Youth Director.
    7. Be willing to teach and lead at Quake, Outbreak, Breakfast Club, and Confirmation as needed.
    8. Assist in recruiting, encouraging, and training adult volunteers.
    9. Assist in creating a bridge between children and youth ministries.

 

  1. Accountability and Support:

The Youth Coordinator will regularly meet with the Youth Director and as needed with the Senior Pastor and Leadership Team.

  1. Weekly meetings with Youth Director for visioning, calendaring, planning, etc.
  2. Assist in leading a Youth Ministry Team.
  3. Participate in ongoing Continuing Education experiences relative to these age

             levels.

 

  1. Discipleship opportunities: Sunday night Life Groups, Sunday School, Breakfast Club,

Student Leadership, and ability to create new discipleship opportunities for students.

Functional Responsibilities:

1) Youth Coordinator with spiritual mentoring for above age groups.

2) Youth Coordinator with pastoral care calls in hospitals, homes, etc. for above age groups.

3) Assistant teacher for Confirmation Class (with Youth Director).

4) Lead retreat, mission trip, Late Night, and outreach projects for Outbreak two to three times a month.

5) Lead one mission trip for Quake and assist in other trips as needed.

6) Help encourage and equip Life Group and adult leaders for Quake

7) Other functions crucial to the life and health of the church as determined by the Youth Director or Senior Pastor.

 

Full-Time Youth & Children’s Church Coordinator [Option #2]

Primary Purpose:

The Youth & Children’s Church Coordinator is to assist the Youth Director in providing pastoral leadership and discipleship opportunities for 3 years old through 4th grade (KICK), 5th & 6th grade (Outbreak) and 7th-12th grade students (Quake). Our goal is that they may be drawn to Christ and discipled into life-long followers of Jesus Christ by fulfilling the great command and commission of Jesus Christ through the vision of Marysville First United Methodist Church, “To Love God and All People for the Transformation of the World.”

The position is paid salary staff at full time – 40 hours per week except for emergencies, planned retreats and mission trips, and special occasions. With 30 hours devoted to Quake and Outbreak ministry and 10 hours devoted to KICK ministry.

    1. Lead and organize Children’s Church worship and teaching each Sunday during the worship service.
    2. Create a team of trained leaders for Children’s Church so you can worship at least once a month.
    3. Use your passions and gifts to create new children’s ministry opportunities with the Children’s Coordinator.
    4. Be a bridge builder between youth and children ministries.
