Overview:
The Youth & College Coordinator collaborates with the staff and pastors of Christ Church East Bay in our ministry to youth and college-aged Christ Churchers, and also to our local community. The Youth & College Coordinator will lead Christ Church Youth (CCYouth), which encompasses grades 6-8 (middle school) and 9-12 (high school), with grade 5 being a bridge year from CCKids to CCYouth. Time is spent gathering, connecting with, and discipling students in partnership with a Youth Team of mentors, parents, pastors, and other volunteers to execute the pastors’ vision for youth and college-aged Christ Churchers. In College Ministry, the Youth & College Coordinator partners with the Pastor of Care & Discipleship to establish Christ Church’s presence at UC Berkeley amongst undergrads and to disciple those of college-age who worship at Christ Church.
Key Responsibilities:
Youth Ministry
- Nurture the spiritual formation, church fellowship, and missional mindset of youth and college-aged Christ Churchers in partnership with the Pastor of Care & Discipleship
- Meet regularly with Pastor of Care & Discipleship to strategize, stay on mission, and create a youth and college ministry culture and a culture of Good Samaritan community care
- Oversee and sustain rhythm of weekly midweek and Sunday student gatherings
- Develop a communication plan to regularly and reliably contact youth, youth mentors, parents of youth, and others involved with youth ministry.
- Recruit, disciple, and empower youth mentors to shepherd the youth
- Partner with pastoral staff in preparing and teaching content for weekly midweek and Sunday student gatherings (Bible study & prayer)
- Lead Youth Team in preparing and executing weekly, quarterly, and seasonal activities and events for community-building fun, service, and outreach.
- Connect with kids via text, Discord, social media, etc. answering questions, making announcements, fostering an online community
- Organize a parent team for resources and logistical support
- Contribute wisdom and experience to pastors’ and elders’ vision for youth development milestones
- Coordinate with CCKids Director for joint events with 5th graders
College Ministry
- Increase Christ Church’s footprint upon UC Berkeley and Berkeley City College campuses amongst undergrads
- Attend welcome week events at local colleges with Pastor of Care & Discipleship to introduce new students to Christ Church
- Manage new contacts and reach out to them with personal welcome and invitation
- Connect and partner with other parachurch student ministries as a representative of Christ Church
- Disciple and extend pastoral care to college-aged Christ Churchers
Administrative
- Maintain the annual youth, college, and community outreach calendars of meetings and events (e.g., weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually)
- Prep protocols for future events, waivers, and information needed for students/mentors
- Manage youth ministry budget

- Experience leveraging technology, social platforms, and digital platforms for youth ministry
- Experience in ministries of justice and mercy.
- 2+ years children’s or youth ministry experience
- Bachelor’s degree

Hours: Fulltime, Exempt
