Student Ministries Associate Director

Position Title:  Student Ministries Associate Director (part time – 20 hours)

Position Summary: The Student Ministries Associate Director is a high energy person who is responsible to the Student Ministries Pastor and assists in the oversight and direction of all youth ministry programs (grades 6- 12). The Student Ministries Associate Director will have a focus on building relationships with students and their families as well as helping to teach and lead events in both middle school and high school ministries. Our youth ministry consists of “One youth group with two parts” – both middle school and high school combine at times and separate at other times. The Student Ministries Associate Director must be able to split their time and focus on both parts. The Student Ministries Associate Director functions as part of the broader family ministry team.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Interact effectively with students and families (4 hours per week)
    • Build relationships and connect with students and their families
    • Connect with students regularly outside of programming (includes attending youth events, sports and extracurricular activities)
    • Track expenses and stay within budget for hospitality
  • Attend and assist in the planning and execution of all youth programs and events and attend other church events as needed (7 hours per week on average)
    • Sunday morning church worship
    • Sunday night youth group
    • 2 annual retreats
    • 1-2 annual missions trips (Middle School and/or High School)Other youth events and activities throughout the year
  • Develop and execute teaching programs (3 hours per week on average)
    • Teach in both middle school and high school on a regular basis (teaching schedule and topics to be coordinated by the Student Ministries Pastor)
    • Work with the worship staff and youth worship team to create a culture of worship among students.
  • Meet regularly with volunteers to both coach and be coached (1-2 hours per week)
    • Keep leaders informed on events and expectations
    • Allow leaders to speak into leadership and strategy
  • Communicate effectively with the church family, other staff and function as part of the team (4 hours per week on average)
    • Meet regularly with the Student Ministries Pastor, Executive Pastor and other staff as needed
    • Communicate weekly via email with families and youth volunteers as to the upcoming events and teaching topics
    • Attend meetings as scheduled (on time and prepared)

  • Able to attain and maintain a commercial driver’s license.

Reporting Relationship:

  • The Student Ministries Associate Director reports to the Student Ministries Pastor and closely coordinates with the Family Ministry Staff.

Education: Theological training preferred; the ideal candidate would have a college degree in ministry or be pursuing a degree with the intent of working in ministry; agreement with the Wayzata Free Church Statement of Faith

Compensation: Compensation commensurate with education and experience. Budget for ministry expenses. Pro-rated vacation time.
