New Life Community Church in Aurora, CO is prayerfully seeking a Middle School Director and Worship Assistant.  This is the combination of two part-time roles. The Middle School Director averages 25 hours per week and the Worship Assistant averages 10 hours per week. New Life is part of the EFCA denomination and runs 450 in weekly attendance. These positions personally represent New Life and are called to advance Christ, the Gospel, and the mission, principles and goals of the Church. Ministerial activities include, but are not limited to: teaching, evangelism, leading prayer, providing spiritual advice, counsel and mentoring.

  • Able to teach clearly, accurately, & relevantly

About Our Middle School Ministry

  • Meets Sunday mornings and Tuesday evenings. High School and Middle School meet separately but are always working together towards the same purpose and mission.
    • Tuesdays focus on outreach and includes: welcoming guests, games, teaching, small groups, and lots of energy.
    • Sundays focus on equipping and disciple-multiplying and includes: teaching, group discussion, and a small game.
  • There are currently 40 Middle School students with 20-30 of them attending on Tuesdays and 10-15 attending on Sundays.

 

Primary Responsibilities for Middle School Director

  • Intentionally plan and carry out disciple-making strategy
    • Work alongside the Student Ministries Pastor to build a ministry that makes disciples
    • Believes in and upholds the student ministry mission, values, strategies, and marks that make up our foundation
    • Consistently evaluate the efficacy of the ministry and look for ways to improve
    • Plan an annual youth calendar in conjunction with the church and high school calendar
  • Provide leadership and clear vision for volunteer leaders
    • Equip leaders to do the ministry and be disciple-makers
    • Recruit the needed number of adult volunteers
    • Care for adult volunteers lives and walks with Jesus
  • Utilize weekly gatherings and special events to accomplish the disciple-making plan and student ministry mission
    • Build a fun, safe, and loving environment for the spiritual growth of students
    • Organize and execute Sunday and Tuesday gatherings
    • Plan one summer opportunity (mission’s trip, conference, camp, or other)
    • Organize a group of middle school students to attend the EFCA district winter retreat
  • Communicating timely and effectively to parents, staff, and students

 

Secondary Responsibilities for Middle School Director

  • Attending staff meetings (twice per month for two hours total)
  • Attend EFCA Front Range Youth Pastor meetings (once per month for three hours)
  • Available for prayer and communion in main Sunday service (2nd Service) as needed
  • One or two opportunities to preach in the adult service each year if desired (not required)

 

Accountability: Reports directly to the Student Ministries Pastor

 

 

New Life Community Church – Worship Ministry Assistant Job Description

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Heart that is teachable, humble and ready to serve
  • Heart for learning to lead a multi-generational, multi-ethnic church in worship through music
  • Basic and continuing understanding of music
  • Ability to lead worship from guitar or keyboard
  • Basic and continuing organizational skills
  • Relational skills to work with members of a team, leaders and the congregation
  • Interest in working with believers of different cultures, languages and musical styles
  • Bilingual in Spanish is desired but not required

 

About Our Worship Ministry

  • New Life Community Church is committed to being a multi-ethnic church in the very diverse city of Aurora, CO. Because there are people from about 40 different ethnicities attending our church, we seek to offer a diversity of worship experiences in our two Sunday morning services. We do have five other ethnic-specific services throughout the week – these are not the responsibility of the Worship Ministry Assistant, just something of note.
  • We are also committed to being a multi-generational church, so we desire diverse worship experiences in light of that as well.
  • Finally, while we continually emphasize the importance of improving one’s ART in worship, it must never be done at the expense of maintaining a genuine, God-honoring HEART in worship.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Direct involvement in two of New Life’s Sunday morning services per month
    • Plan and lead the worship team once a month
    • Participate on a worship team once a month
  • Assist in coordination with ethnic ministries for joint worship services (4-6 times per year)
  • Coordinate with Technical Team (sound, video, lighting)
  • Attend occasional coordination meetings with Worship Coordinator and Senior Pastor

 

Accountability: Reports to Worship Coordinator

 

Time Commitments:

  • Middle School Director- Average of 25 hours/week
  • Worship Assistant- Average of 10 hours/week

 

Compensation:

  • Middle School Director- This is a salaried position based upon education and experience. Range is $15,600 – $19,500
  • Worship Ministry Assistant- This is a $12 per hour position. The yearly total for this role is $6,240
  • Total of both is a range of $21,840 – $25,740
