You Are Not Superman or Superwoman

I’m skipping the intro here and getting straight to the point: you are not superman, or superwoman, or supergirl.Have you ever noticed how many superheroes are doing it all alone? They’ve got superpowers, so they don’t need anything or anybody else. Also, they’re virtually indestructible, so they can keep going and going and going. You’re not superman, or superwoman. You cannot do it all by yourself. Not in life, not in youth ministry, not in anything. It’s okay to ask for help, because you need it. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness; it’s a sign of strength. It means that you’re smart enough to know that it’s better together, that others are equally good or even better than you at aspects of your life or your job, and that it’s okay to not do it all. It’s okay to admit you’re not indestructible, because no one expects you to. You’re only human, just like the rest of us, which means that you have to take care of yourself. Respect your limits, take your rest, say ‘no’ when you need to.You’re not Superman. You’re not Superwoman.Where do you need to ask for help, right now? Where do you need to stop trying to do it alone? Where do you need to step back and take room to breathe, to be?superman
