Status: Full-Time 10 Week Paid Internship
Reports To: Youth Director
Location: Kalamazoo, MI

GsYouth exists to equip and empower each of those students to follow Jesus Step By Step. We believe that Student Ministry should be Students doing Ministry which is why we are all about building relationships as we provide a safe space for students to own their faith. JOB DESCRIPTION: This summer internship offers a balance of practical youth ministry experience such as leading students, casting vision, building relationships, and moving the team, as well as things you don’t typically learn in school like budgeting, planning/preparing/executing, and working with other people and departments. Our one male and one female interns will be responsible for maintaining the weekly rhythm of gsYouth during the summer which includes our summer Gatherings on Sunday nights, bible studies, events, and participation in select mission trips. This paid internship is a 10 week program starting on June 5th and ending on August 12th for $300 a week. Housing will be provided, reliable transportation is a must, and the start/end dates are flexible.
The Ideal Candidate:
A maturing disciple of Jesus Christ.
Loves hanging out with 6th-12th grade students.
Desires more hands on and behind the scenes experience in youth ministry.
Capable of working in a collaborative team setting, trying new things, and getting outside their comfort zone.
What You’ll Do:
Work with the Student Director and fellow intern to help plan, prepare, and run our summer programming including weekly youth group, special events, and Bible studies.
Build intentional relationships with MS and HS students by earning the right to speak into their life by hanging out and having fun with them.
Prepare and give at least 2 messages to students.
Help facilitate the gsKidz VBS week.
Attend all staff meetings
Complete projects and tasks assigned by the Student Director.
What We’ll Do:
- Pour into you by reading and discussing 2 assigned ministry related books and 2 leadership podcasts with the Student Director and other intern.
- Provide funding for you to participate in our MS and HS mission trips.
- Build you up as a leader and follower of Christ by getting to know you and being with you in the trenches of ministry.
- Give you the option to get a more behind the scenes look at different departments (creative arts, worship, tech, Kids, etc.)
- Give you one on one spiritual and leadership mentorship from the Student Director through regular meetings.
Qualifications:
Youth ministry majors preferred.
Willingness to grow in knowledge and wisdom.
Housing will be provided, but transportation and meals will not be.
Entering sophomore year in college or higher.
