In order to move Avenue forward toward that vision, we have a full-time opening on our family ministry staff team. We’re looking for a person who is known for their high-energy, positive attitude, and passion in ministry to students and their families.
Our ideal Student Ministry Director will have experience working with middle school and high school students in a Christian setting, has led volunteers or been a high-capacity volunteer themselves, is considered by others to be humble, hungry and emotionally smart.

Role Overview:
The Avenue Student Ministry Director will be responsible for overseeing and leading the Middle School Ministry – currently defined as 5th-8th grade – and the High School Ministry, 9th-12th grade. This person will be a contributing member of the Avenue Family Ministry Team, as well as the Avenue Programming Team. They will be responsible for creating an effective and authentic discipleship community among students, as well as partnering with parents and families. Through partnered vision, execution of strategy and development of volunteer leadership teams, the Student Ministry Director will lead students to be life-long Christ-Followers.
Student Ministry Overview:
Avenue Student Ministry is a part of the Avenue Family Ministry. It is currently defined as 5th-12th grades. Its current gatherings are: .) Middle School Bible Study, Sunday Mornings. 2) High School Youth Group, Sunday Nights. 3) Middle School Youth Group, Wednesday Nights. Both groups participate in monthly activities and yearly big events/trips. Both ministries meet in the Avenue Student Center.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead the high school ministry in a creative, culturally relevant ministry of discipleship, Biblical leadership, and missions-minded outreach that will effectively reach families and high school students
In partnership with the Family Pastor, lead the middle school ministry in a creative, early adolescent-specific, culturally relevant manner that values biblical teaching and spiritual development that effectively reaches families and middle school students.
In partnership with the Family Pastor, develop a team of adult leaders through recruitment, development and discipleship training.
In cooperation with the Family Pastor, Engage, Encourage, Equip, and Empower parents in the life-long discipleship of their student with resources, tools and guidance for household discipleship.
In cooperation with the Family Ministry team, establish a spiritual growth plan for teaching and discipleship from middle school through high school, as well as implement a strategic scope and sequence of teaching.
Coordinate and engage students in serving within the walls of our church, in our local community and through cross-cultural mission projects.
Maintain strict safety-conscious guidelines for the protection of students and volunteers.
Other related ministry responsibilities, as needed.

Give evidence of a life that continues to be changed by the grace of Jesus Christ.
Exude a passion for all people, particularly students, to experience new life in Christ.
Possess strong relational skills in making sure students are connected and involved.
Be a leader with leaders by demonstrating the ability to work alongside volunteers.
Possess excellent public and interpersonal communication skills.
Be capable of leading a ministry administratively.
General Expectations:
Involved in personal discipleship, either Life Group or one-on-one.
Practices personal financial stewardship and generosity.
Regular attender and participant in worship gatherings and other ministries.
Maintains regular, but flexible working hours, as determined by needs of ministry.
Functions within the expressed mission and vision of Avenue Christian Church.
Job Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree (or greater) in Biblical Studies, Youth Ministry, or another comparable field that would provide knowledge for leadership in student ministry.
Experience: Experience in paid or volunteer youth ministry within a church or parachurch context.
