Full Time - $35,000 to $41,500 Depending on Qualifications

Task & Purpose:
Youth Ministry:
To build relationships with youth inside and outside of Canyon Lake UMC, to lead youth in study, fellowship, worship, and service, and to help them develop and grow a strong relationship with God, with other youth, with caring and trusted adults, and with the church.
Young Adult Ministry:
To build relationships with young adults from Canyon Lake UMC and from area colleges & universities, to lead them in fellowship and service, and to help them develop and grow a strong relationship with God, with other young adults, and with the church.
Qualifications:
A deep love for God, and the call to help others develop a love for & relationship with God
A love for youth & young adults, and the desire and ability to connect with them and lead them
An ability to work cooperatively with the teaching pastor, lead pastor, other church staff, and church members & friends
Spiritually and emotionally mature, and actively seeking to grow through study, prayer, and regular worship attendance
Ability to organize and lead youth and adults in carrying out a planned program
Seminary/Theological degree (obtained or pursuing) preferred, with consideration for equivalent Youth/YA ministry training & experience
To Whom Responsible:
Lead Pastor - and consultation with Teaching Pastor and the Staff Parish Relations Committee
Responsibilities:
Conduct the Youth program including:
Sunday School
Wednesday Youth Fellowship
Youth participation in worship leadership
Annual mission/service trip and bi-annual retreats
Participation in Conference youth activities including DakYouth, Winter Connection, Camp, & CCYM
Conduct the Young Adult ministry including:
Mentoring others into leadership
Weekly study groups and occasional fellowship events
Mission opportunities
Annual mission/service trip and bi-annual retreats
Fostering meaningful relationships with area campuses
Commit to yearly leadership growth through continuing education
Lead & work collaboratively with the Youth Leadership Team & Young Adult Leadership Team:
to align the ministries with the mission and vision of Canyon Lake United Methodist Church
to design programs that include worship, service, study, fellowship & fun
to set goals for the programs and strategize for meeting those goals
Encourage and provide for youth and young adults to take ownership in and leadership roles in all activities
For youth ministry, to recruit adult volunteers, including parents of youth and other adults in the church; to share in leadership and to assist in carrying out activities
Build relationships and regularly connect with both active youth and inactive
youth and their families, and active/inactive young adults
Maintain office hours, attend weekly staff meetings, monthly staff retreats, and meet regularly with the Lead & Teaching Pastors
